Compendium of Programs
The VFHY Compendium of Tobacco Use Prevention Programs for Youth
includes 18 programs recognized by national, state, and nonprofit
organizations as model, promising or effective tobacco-use prevention
programs. These programs allow schools, faith-based and other
community organizations to help youth under the age of 18 to refrain
from or discontinue tobacco use. The content of the selected programs
include information relative to tobacco prevention, tobacco cessation,
early tobacco intervention/reduction, substance abuse prevention,
advocacy, youth empowerment and social skills building.
Clicking on the title of each program will open
a two-page PDF file that provides program information. Additional
informational links are embedded in the document. For a complete
overview listing of all 18 programs, consult the Compendium
of Programs Booklet. (If you have difficulty opening these
documents, please contact Charlie
McLaughlin for more information.)
The Compendium is available broken
down by topic area for those looking to reach a specific age
group or work within a certain setting. In addition, the VTSF
has examined the Compendium programs to show how they correspond
with Virginia's Standards of Learning (SOL) requirements.
